Serie A outfits Bologna host Freiburg at the Renato Dall’Ara in search of their first three points in this season’s Europa League league phase.
Bologna found themselves qualifying for Europe in back-to-back years after lifting the Coppa Italia trophy last season, but their start to the Europa League campaign did not go according to plan. John McGinn’s 13th minute goal stood as the difference between the Rossoblu and Aston Villa in a match where the Premier League side claimed all three points. Vincenzo Italiano’s side sit ninth in the Serie A standings after registering seven points from their first five league games. Bologna’s last match ended in a 2-2 draw with Lecce. They looked in pole position to win the clash but a late Francesco Camarda strike helped the hosts earn a point.
Meanwhile, Freiburg defeated Basel in their Europa League opener as goals from Patrick Osterhage and Maximilian Eggestein helped the Bundesliga side edge past the visitors. Julian Schuster’s side lost two of their first three games in the new season, but they recovered and are now unbeaten in four of their matches across all competitions. Freiburg do not hold a positive away record in European competitions, and they have lost each of their previous three Europa League matches on the road.
Here are the predicted line-ups for the match according to Calcio Bologna:
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Zortea, Vitik, Lucumí, Lykogiannis; Freuler, Ferguson; Orsolini, Odgaard, Cambiaghi; Castro.
Freiburg (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Kübler, Ginter, Jung, Günter; Eggestein, Osterhage; Beste, Manzambi, Grifo; Adamu.
