Looking at the Newcastle team v Liverpool.

Eddie Howe and his players hoping to bring back to Tyneside the first silverware in 56 years.

What would be the first domestic trophy in 70 years.

So, what can we expect the Newcastle team v Liverpool to be?

Jamaal Lascelles is a long-term absentee whilst we have seen three other Newcastle United players also ruled out.

Anthony Gordon misses the next two games (as well as the West Ham match that was played on Monday) through suspension. Whilst both Lewis Hall and Sven Botman have needed surgery.

However, great news on Friday morning.

At his press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup Final, Eddie Howe confirming no new injuries, so all of the rest of the squad fit and available, apart from the four detailed above. The squad of players (see photo above) who defeated West Ham on Monday.

So where does that leave us…

My predicted Newcastle team v Liverpool:

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, Barnes, Isak, Murphy

I think it was always going to be the case that Eddie Howe would play his best available eleven against West Ham.

Then if everything went ok, no serious negatives showing up from that team selection, a case of repeat again for the Carabao Cup Final.

After the first few minutes at the London Stadium and a couple of nervy moments, Newcastle took control of the match and dominated against a very negative defensive West Ham.

A well deserved victory AND clean sheet.

That result and performance giving much needed confidence and momentum, so I would be amazed if Eddie Howe now didn’t name the same Newcastle team v Liverpool as he did against the Hammers.
