Sunderland face a landmark campaign next term, with European football arriving on Wearside and a data-led projection for their league finish.

According to Betting Lounge, a supercomputer projects Sunderland to finish 16th on 40 points in the 2026/27 Premier League.

Regis Le Bris and his squad exceeded expectations last season, finishing seventh in their first top-flight campaign for nine years. A final-day win over Chelsea, combined with other results, secured Europa League qualification alongside Bayer Leverkusen, Olympique Marseille, AC Milan and Juventus.

While the European adventure will command attention, Le Bris and the club hierarchy also aim to build on momentum across the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and league, with a busy summer window anticipated.

The model places Arsenal top on 86 points, ahead of Manchester City on 78 and Liverpool on 75. Manchester United are fourth with 68, followed by Chelsea on 66, then Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur on 63, and Newcastle United on 57.

Brighton and Hove Albion are set at 55, Bournemouth 53, Brentford 49, Everton 47, Fulham 43, Leeds United 42 and Crystal Palace 41. Nottingham Forest are on 36. The bottom three are Hull City on 33, Ipswich Town 27 and Coventry City 24.
