Premier League and Champions League winner snubbed Sunderland before 2017 Liverpool switch | OneFootball

Andy Robertson says he rejected approaches from Premier League sides including Sunderland, Burnley and Everton earlier in his career, opting to stay at Hull City.

He remained with Hull until summer 2017, when Liverpool agreed an £8m fee and saw off rival interest from then-Premier League opponents Stoke City.

“We were in the meeting for nearly an hour, and five minutes before the end, the chief scout from Liverpool phoned and said they wanted to meet me. Everything we’d spoke about was ripped up and I went to Liverpool.”

The Scotland international went on to become a two-time Premier League champion, a Champions League winner and lifted the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, FIFA World Club Cup and UEFA Super Cup across nine years at Anfield. He joined Spurs on a free transfer this summer.
