Our Premier League Awards honour the best – and worst – of the weekend action, featuring Burnley-Brentford and Jordan Pickford’s stunning save.

Moment of the Week

It was a goal-laden weekend in the Premier League, with only two clean sheets recorded across the entire schedule.

Arguably the best action was at Turf Moor and a chaotic clash between Burnley and Brentford that featured seven goals, late drama, and VAR controversy.

Brentford’s hopes of European football looked to have suffered a dent as Burnley battled back from three goals down to level, but there was a late sting from the Bees as Mikkel Damsgaard drove in a 93rd-minute winner.

Damsgaard’s decisive moment was sandwiched between two disallowed goals for Burnley in a drama-packed Premier League contest.

Player of the Week

The man who made the difference for Brentford also earns our Player of the Week Award. Mikkel Damsgaard was at the heart of Brentford’s epic win, opening the scoring with a rare header and assisting Igor Thiago for the second, before his late winner.

The Denmark international hasn’t quite hit last season’s levels of productivity, but when on-song there are not many better creators around. He could have a big say in Brentford’s push for European football.

Goal of the Week

It must be hugely frustrating to score an absolute peach and it ultimately count for nothing.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s wonder goal at Brighton was not enough for Nottingham Forest, as the struggling side lost 2-1 at The Amex Stadium.

There was just two minutes between Gibbs-White’s equaliser and Brighton going back in front, in an instant bump back to earth for the Forest captain.

Maybe our Goal of the Week Award is somewhat of a silver lining…

Save of the Week

Jordan Pickford believes this save against Newcastle is the best of his career to date. The England number one has made some massive stops for club and country in recent years, but this is right up there.

Tonali’s missile was travelling at some speed towards the Everton goal, with Pickford reacting rapidly to get a hand on it and deflect it onto the bar. It was a game-winning moment as Everton led 3-2 in the final stages.

Stat of the Week

“Set piece again, Ole, Ole…”

Arsenal are the masters of maximising their set pieces and were at is again to sink Chelsea this weekend. Two goals, both scored from corners, earned the Premier League leaders a crucial win in the title race and equalled a divisional record.

A week to forget for…

Igor Tudor. If the interim manager did not realise the scale of his task at Tottenham, he certainly does now. Two games in charge have ended in consecutive London Derby defeats, with six goals conceded in the process.

Spurs have now equalled their longest ever winless run in the Premier League era (10 games) and remain just four points above the drop zone. Upcoming home games against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are massive.
