A change to Premier League broadcasting from the start of the 2025/26 season is set to directly impacted Manchester City and the Etihad Stadium, a report has detailed.
All parties are currently gearing up for another season of English top-flight football, with various preparations underway ranging from stadium upgrades, to new kit launches, as well as the ever-exciting recruitment processes to be undertaken over the summer.
For Manchester City, it appears as though the upcoming summer market will take on even greater importance given the struggles experienced across Pep Guardiola’s side throughout the course of the ongoing season.
Injuries and a perceived lack of legs in crucial positions has led to many fans to believe that a number of major signings will be needed in order to get the all-conquering Etihad outfit back to the summit of European football.
That also includes a required dominance in the English game, with the Premier League globally viewed as the greatest league on the planet. And with that tagline also comes a constant desire to improve the product provided to audiences all over the world.
The latest development on the constant evolution of the Premier League and its global broadcasting offerings will directly affect stadiums across the division including that of Manchester City.
According to the information of MailSport’s Mike Keegan, cameramen are set to be allowed on to the pitch during Premier League games from next season to film goal celebrations using ‘Steadicams’ – seen currently entering the field of play upon the final whistle of matches.
It is also revealed that radio commentators and pundits are expected to be permitted to film their reactions to goals and big moments in press boxes, perhaps influenced by the rapid growth of independent fan channels.
Upgrades to broadcasting offerings also coincides with Manchester City’s own stadium developments and improvements, as the club prepares to expand the Etihad to around 60,000 in capacity midway through the upcoming season.
Along with the expanded capacity, Manchester City have already revealed to supporters some of the new additions that will come with the expansion, including a brand new club shop, museum, food hall, and an on-site hotel – the biggest in the city.
On the pitch, fans will be hoping that on-field cameramen capturing goal celebrations will also have their images fixated on new signings, with the club believed to be interested in signing the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
