Real Madrid could face a tougher task than expected if they decide to pursue Alex Scott in January, with Bournemouth working to keep the midfielder at the club.

According to Bernabeu Digital, Bournemouth have not abandoned their efforts to extend Scott’s contract and want to reach an agreement before the January transfer window opens.

As reported before, the 23-year-old remains on Real Madrid’s radar as the club assesses possible midfield additions, although his current deal gives Bournemouth time to protect their position.

Bournemouth want to secure Scott before January

Scott is contracted to Bournemouth until 2028, meaning he is not immediately approaching the end of his agreement.

However, January will mark 18 months remaining on the midfielder’s current deal, increasing the importance of the renewal discussions for the Premier League club.

Bournemouth are therefore attempting to settle Scott’s future before the winter window, particularly with Real Madrid and other clubs monitoring his development.

A new contract would strengthen their position and potentially make any future approach significantly more complicated.

For Scott, the situation comes at an important stage of his career because at 23, he has already established himself in the Premier League and is attracting attention beyond England.

Mourinho’s Real Madrid face competition for Scott

Real Madrid’s interest comes against the backdrop of uncertainty surrounding their midfield.

The club has been assessing younger options for the future, and Scott’s profile makes him an interesting candidate.

However, a move to Real Madrid would represent a longer-term investment rather than an obvious immediate solution.

Jose Mourinho’s preference for experienced players could also influence the club’s thinking.

Scott may therefore be viewed more as a player to develop and integrate over time than someone expected to immediately become the centrepiece of the midfield.

Hence, it would not be wrong to assume that even if Scott signs an extension before January, Real Madrid’s interest may not disappear, but the financial conditions of any potential deal could change considerably.

For now, though, Real Madrid’s interest is a mere speculation rather than actual talks.
