Premier League clubs alerted as Barcelona lose court case | OneFootball

Dani Olmo could leave Barcelona on a free transfer next month after a court rejected the club’s plea to extend his registration until the end of the season.

Barcelona were initially unable to register Olmo after his €55m move to the Spanish side from RB Leipzig last summer. A long-term injury to Andreas Christensen provided room to temporarily register Olmo in the squad, though that registration expires on December 31st.

It is understood Barcelona are not currently in a financial position to re-register Olmo and have taken La Liga to court in a bid to get the current rules changed.

However, Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that their plea has been rejected and the Catalans now face the risk of losing the  summer signing for nothing. Olmo reportedly has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for free if the club are unable to register him, prompting interest from the Premier League.

The player’s agent, Andy Bara, has been in Manchester to spark rumours of interest from Manchester United and Manchester City. Olmo was previously linked with both clubs before his move to Barcelona, having starred during Spain’s success at Euro 2024. The 27-year-old won a share of the top scorer award as La Roja won the tournament last summer. He has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for the national team.

Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have also been credited as admirers previously and his potential availability as a free agent could spark a scramble for his services next month.
