Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, according to a report. The Irishman is in his final season of a three year deal and indicated last month that he had not been offered a new deal yet, insisting that he would like to stay at the club if his ambition was matched by the club’s hierarchy.
As reported by TalkSport’s Alex Crook, Rodgers could decide to leave Celtic at the end of the current season with a number of Premier League sides waiting in the wings should he depart the Scottish Champions after his third season.
“Brendan Rodgers is out of contract at the end of the season.
“And as I’ve been making enquiries about what might happen at Ibrox, I have just been hearing a lot of whispers that maybe Brendan Rodgers could decide at the end of the season not to renew his deal, and that the time is right to leave Celtic for a second time.
“If he does, I think he’d be on a lot of lists in the Premier League.”
Crook listed a number of clubs that would be alerted to the availability of Rodgers in the summer with the Crystal Palace, Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest jobs all suggested.
“We could be talking, come the summer, of a bit of a managerial merry-go-round because Oliver Glasner at Palace is coming to the end of his contract, Marco Silva at Fulham (too).
“And Andoni Iraola, very sought after by some top clubs, is in the same situation at Bournemouth.
“You would think all of those trio would be interested in a manager with the CV of Brendan Rodgers.
“And don’t rule out Nottingham Forest either – because Evangelos Marinakis has been a long-term admirer of Brendan Rodgers and obviously Ange Postecoglou is still on a very sticky wicket there.”
Celtic need to offer clarity to the situation for Brendan. It would be a step towards unifying the support of a new deal was agreed as it would be a sign that the club match his ambition.
