This is how the Premier League form table looks on Tuesday morning.

Worth a look for Newcastle United fans.

Indeed, worth a look for fans of a lot of other Premier League clubs.

Great wins in the last two Premier League contests, beating Arsenal 1-0 at St James’ Park and then that 3-1 at Forest (of course those swiftly following up the 2-0 cup victory over Chelsea).

Could there be real potential this season for Newcastle United and their fans…?

Here is the newly updated Premier League form table on Tuesday morning, which covers the past six matches for all teams:

The last six PL results for Newcastle United with very latest one listed first:

Forest 1 Newcastle 3

Newcastle 1 Arsenal 0

Chelsea 2 Newcastle 1

Newcastle 0 Brighton 1

Everton 0 Newcastle 0

Newcastle 1 Man City 1

As you can see, Newcastle United now in twelfth place in this newly updated Premier League form table.

NUFC with eight points from two wins, two draws and two defeats, with six goals scored and five conceded.

Looking at it more roundly though, Newcastle United are one of 13 Premier League clubs to have banked between eight and ten points in their last half dozen matches, from West Ham who are 14th in this Premier League form table right up to Bournemouth who are 2nd.

You look at this Premier League form table above and so many things strike you.

Such as the fact that ‘not obvious’ clubs such as Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham and Forest are in the top five form teams.

Such as nobody apart from Liverpool has won more than three of their last six PL matches.

This smacks to me of a season of opportunity, for so many clubs, especially Newcastle United.

If Eddie Howe’s side can now maintain the levels they have shown in their last three games/wins (all competitions), then who knows? Liverpool the only PL club showing any consistency and I think at times they seem to be riding their luck, picking up wins when performances haven’t been that good.

Man U have won only two of their last six.

Chelsea have won one of their last five.

Arsenal haven’t won any of their last four.

Villa have won only one of their last six.

Man City lost their last two and won only three of their last half dozen.

Tottenham in a cycle of win/lose, win/lose, win/lose.

Newcastle United are one of only three Premier League clubs that have won both of their last two PL matches.

This Premier League form table does of course very much reflect the bigger picture this season.

This is how the full Premier League table currently now looks on Tuesday 12 November 2024:

From Chelsea in third down to Villa in ninth, only one point separates the seven clubs.

If Newcastle can beat both West Ham at home and Palace away, they would all but be guaranteed to go into that match at home to Liverpool, in the top four, maybe as high as third.

No doubt some of you will be saying it could go the other way and of course, that is possible.

However, the potential is there.

Newcastle United have been playing well for some time now, from Man City at home onwards.

These recent results finally seeing the scorelines match the performances, especially due to rediscovering our finishing ability, as well as fine margins at last going our way again. Newcastle have actually won four of their last seven games (all competitions) and that could/should have been six from seven, as we were much the better team against both Everton and Brighton and created more/better chances. Chelsea as well I think United deserved a draw, all in all it could have been six wins and a draw in the last seven games BUT that is in the past.

These last three wins have given a glimpse of what could be very possible moving forward.

Momentum is a massive thing and Newcastle United now have it.
