Premier League clubs have unanimously voted to keep the £30 cap on away tickets for the next two seasons.

The Premier League said in a statement that away fans help create the league’s atmosphere, adding that since the cap was introduced in 2016 it has contributed to attendance at away games rising from 82 per cent to 91 per cent, while acknowledging the additional costs of travelling.

The cap ensures travelling supporters pay no more than £30 when following their sides on the road.

Thursday’s vote means the policy will run until the summer of 2028, covering 12 seasons in total since 2016.

The move benefits away followings across the top flight, including supporters of Sunderland and their Premier League rivals.
