Writing for the Metro, Alan Shearer has had his say on the Chelsea – Arsenal game which is coming up on Sunday. It’s not good news for the Blues. The legendary former striker thinks that the Gunners are going to simply steamroller the Blues.

“They’ll have too much for them all over the pitch,” Shearer said in his piece for the Metro.

“I’m still really not convinced by Chelsea at the back. Defensively, Rosenior keeps picking different personnel and they haven’t been great defensively, which has to change if they’re going to get into the top four.”

Chelsea proved they can put up a better fight than Shearer thinks

Trevoh Chalobah heads in against Arsenal.

Well in this case Rosenior will have no choice but to choose another back four because Wesley Fofana is suspended. But despite that, we think the new manager’s team could put up a better fight than Shearer claims.

Arsenal have been the best team in the league this year, and there’s no doubt they’re very solid in all areas and are particularly physical. But Chelsea showed in the reverse fixture that they could compete even with 10 men, so with 11 they should certainly be able to keep pace.

Defensively we have a few doubts for sure, and we could even see a debut for Mamadou Sarr. But there’s enough quality in this group to take on anyone.

Liam Rosenior was asked about the exhaustion affecting Cole Palmer, and didn’t come down on either side of the fence.
