The final weekend of Premier League action before the international break certainly delivered with several outstanding individual performances.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC)

Liverpool FC’s star man just loves taking on Manchester United.

On Sunday, he single-handedly spearheaded another routine win at Old Trafford, directly having a hand in each of the goals as his team ran out 3-0 victors at the home of their hated rivals.

Salah assisted two and then scored himself to complete an afternoon that was a stroll in the park for Arne Slot as he picked up his first statement win in the Anfield dugout.

The Egyptian’s goal, perfectly placed home at the near post, takes his tally in this fixture to 12 in the Premier League.

Against no other team has he managed more.

And when he isn’t scoring, as was the case in the first half on Sunday with two centres for Luis Díaz to score twice, he is hurting them in other ways.

Of the last 22 league goals Liverpool FC have netted against United, Salah has directly accounted for an incredible 16 of them with 10 goals and six assists.

That’s an astonishing 73% – he just loves this fixture.

The former Roma man’s sweeping strike on Sunday also took his tally at Old Trafford to 10 goals in just nine outings there in all competitions.

Previously, only Alan Shearer at Elland Road had managed doubled figures in the Premier League as a visiting player.

At the so-called Theatre of Dreams, he is also the only player in Premier League history to be involved in three or more goals in a game on two separate occasions and no visiting player in the competition has ever scored more than him.

In fact, no player has ever scored more against United at any venue in the modern era – a fact that only endears him further to the Anfield faithful.

The only downside to it all were the comments from Salah afterwards, throwing doubt on his Liverpool FC future (now into the final year of his contract) at a time of celebration.

“As you know, it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it but I feel free to play football and we’ll see what can happen,” he told Sky Sports.

“Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contract, so I just think ‘OK, I play my last season and see at the end’. It’s not up to me.”

With performances like this one, the onus has very much been put on the club to keep him around.
