They are joined by PSG’s Champions League hero, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan’s Yann Sommer, Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid, Lille’s Lucas Chevalier and Yassine Bounou of Al-Hilal on the list of nominees.

The Yashin Trophy, named after legendary Soviet player Lev Yashin, is presented annually to the best performing goalkeeper in world football. Martinez has taken home the award in each of the past two years.

Alisson was the first shot stopper to claim the gong, winning the vote in a landslide in 2019, while Courtois won it in 2022. Donnarumma, who won in 2021, is the favourite to win it this year following his terrific performances in the Champions League as PSG won the trophy for the first time ever.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on 22 September 2025.
