Given Ndicka’s departure for the Africa Cup of Nations, Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma had to reinvent themselves in defense.
In the match against Juventus, with Hermoso absent, the defensive trio consisted of Mancini, Ziolkowski, and Rensch.
In yesterday’s match against Genoa, the Giallorossi recovered the former Atlético Madrid center-back, who was joined by Mancini and Ziolkowski.
The Polish player, born in 2005, arrived in the summer from Legia Warsaw after weeks of grueling negotiations.
The defender has always wanted only the Giallorossi, even turning down several offers from other clubs in Europe’s top leagues.
During the match against Genoa, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, scouts from two Premier League clubs were present at the Stadio Olimpico to closely monitor the young Pole’s performance.
For Roma, however, Ziolkowski is unsellable. Barring any offers outside the market, the number 24 will remain at Trigoria for a long time to come.
Little by little, thanks to Ndicka’s absence and his personal growth, the youngster is carving out his own space and has already had the honor of wearing the Polish national team jersey.
