Premier League star says it was a ‘no-brainer’ to snub Man United this summer

Lewis Hall has addressed his links to Manchester United for the first time since the summer saga.

Immediately after the summer window closed and it was set in stone that he’d be staying put at St. James’ Park, the full-back signed a new deal with Newcastle United to keep him tied to the club until 2031.

Hall’s contract was originally poised to run until 2029, but Newcastle were keen to have him commit to a longer-term deal amid growing interest.

United never went as far as submitting a bid for the full-back, though it was common knowledge they were keen on securing his services – hence Newcastle acting so swiftly in opening contract talks.

Speaking to The Chronicle reporter Sean McCormick recently, Hall was put on the spot regarding United. He said: “I guess whenever you’re linked to another team, you know that you’re doing something right.

“I took that as a positive, but at the same time, I knew how much I love playing here, and I knew that since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve.

“It was a no-brainer really to sign [a new contract with Newcastle].”

United still holding out hope in Hall pursuit

Reports have suggested that United will revive their pursuit of the 22-year-old at the end of the season.

However, Hall’s new terms mean any potential negotiations will now be even more difficult, given the Magpies are under absolutely no pressure to sell their coveted star.
