Cards, fouls and long-range shots await in the MIdlands
Wolves v Newcastle Sunday 14:00Live on Sky Sports Main Event
The Magpies may have won three league games on the bounce but since beating Leeds 4-3 on Jan 7th they have played out a thrilling FA Cup clash that went to pens and thrown the kitchen sink - to no avail - at Man City in the League Cup. Tiredness could be a factor at Molineux against an improving Wolves.
And Mateus Mané could be just the player to take full advantage of weary legs, the wonderkid electrifying Wolves into life in recent weeks with several outstanding displays. Should he convert here he will become only the fourth player under the age of 18 to score in three Premier League games in a row.
Playing without fear the attacking midfielder has taken on 11 shots in his four league starts. Eight have come from outside the box, five of them on target.
Newcastle have been a model of inconsistency on the road this term, failing to score in exactly half of their away fixtures. Subsequently, they have picked up just 0.9 ppg on their travels compared to 1.5 ppg at this stage last season.
In recent weeks though their shot count has spiked away from St James' Park, registering 14 per 90 in their last four away games compared to nine per 90 in their four prior.
This puts obvious names such as Yoanne Wissa and Harvey Barnes in the frame but for greater value Lewis Hall is well worth consideration.
Averaging just 1.03 shot per 90 at home the full-back let fly twice at Burnley and on three occasions at Old Trafford.
Certainties in football are few to non-existent but one aspect of Sunday's clash comes awfully close. Compatriots Joao Gomes and Bruno Guimaraes will duel for the full ninety and fouls will arise from that.
When they last met back in September Gomes racked up six foul involvements and Guimaraes seven. Naturally both players were booked. This season no player has fouled more than the Wolves midfielder, his tally equating to a misdemeanour every 38 minutes. He has committed multiple fouls in 76.4% of his starts.
Newcastle's captain meanwhile has drawn a hefty 2.32 fouls per 90 in 2025/26.
Aston Villa v EvertonSunday, 16:30Live on Sky Sports Main Event
The Toffees have generally been solid away from Merseyside this season and pertinently have kept four clean sheets in their last five on the road.
Their fortitude will be severely tested on Sunday, however, coming up against a Villa side who have won eight on the spin at home, to an aggregate scoreline of 18-5.
Jack Grealish is sure to get a hostile reception at Villa Park and it's worth noting that he's been booked in each of his last three visits back to where he was once adored. The England star is ? to be carded again. It's fouls though that most grabs the attention where Grealish is concerned, the 30-year-old drawing more than any other player in the top-flight this term.
Time and again we see the midfielder turn to his main strength when subjected to dog's abuse, that of winning cheap free-kicks, which he knows winds the home fans up even more. He is the undisputed master at it.
Only Brighton's Lewis Dunk has received more yellow cards than Tim Iroegbunam this season - eight to the Everton man's seven - but remarkably the 22-year-old has played half the amount of minutes. All told, it equates to 0.68 bookings per 90 and with Iroegbunam returning to his former club for the first time he is fancied to worsen that stat further in the Midlands.
The midfielder was booked when these sides met back in September.
Ollie back among the goals
Ollie Watkins is a shout at ? to have 1 or more shots on target in the first half. Only three players have registered more efforts before the break this season.
Crucially though, after firing just three league goals in 17 outings, those strikes are now starting to go in.The England forward bagged three against the Toffees last season and in recent weeks has fired four in four.
