Alejandro Garnacho is not a universally popular player, but he has a lot to offer.
He’s a hard worker – and he’s quick as hell too. The Premier League have just put out a new angle of the Argentine racing up the pitch to assist Pedro Neto for Chelsea’s third goal on Saturday against Wolves.
Garnacho hit a top speed of 33.95 mph (the highest anyone reached in the game) as he sped away to latch onto Enzo Fernandez’s long ball, leaving Santi Bueno toiling in his wake. When you combine that with the explosive speed from a standing start that Neto has, this is a vicious combination for any team to deal with on the counter.

Garnacho’s pressing and speed make him a player that fits really nicely into Enzo Maresca’s system, and it’s obvious why he’s been favoured by the Italian coach since arriving in the summer. He’s only just now getting up to speed physically, and this international break comes at a perfect time for him to rest and recover and look to go up another level in the festive period.
A lot of people – us included – weren’t sure that the winger would offer a big upgrade on someone like Jadon Sancho, but it’s already clear he’s a better fit for the team.
Garnacho put this one on a plate for Neto. Chelsea are making chances but still need a focal point to take shots and put them away – that’s what the stats are telling us, anyway.
Things are certainly trending in the right direction in terms of creating these chances, with Chelsea’s main attackers all featuring somewhere in the key stats for chance creation.
