As 2026-27 kicks off, the Premier League is pulling away financially from Europe’s other major competitions.

AS reports the league’s market value at about 12.56 billion euros and annual revenues above 8 billion. The big five are worth roughly 32 billion combined, with England contributing nearly 40%.

La Liga’s market value sits near 5.45 billion euros, just ahead of Serie A on 5.36 billion, then the Bundesliga on 4.8 billion and Ligue 1 on 3.8 billion. Annual revenues are 4.1 billion for La Liga, 4.0 billion for the Bundesliga, 3.1 billion for Serie A and 2.3 billion for Ligue 1.

Executives warn the gap could harden. Thiago Freitas suggests Serie A’s elite may end up economically closer to Türkiye’s giants than to England. With broadcast growth softening, Ligue 1 is trialling a D2C model after a near 20% domestic drop, while Serie A fell almost 3%.

Commercial power is concentrated. Real Madrid and Barcelona underpin much of La Liga’s income, while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain lead their leagues. Matchday returns are most efficient in Germany and England, and the Premier League earns the most cash through pricing and hospitality as sponsorship booms.

The transfer window underlines England’s clout. Yan Diomande has joined Real Madrid for 125 million euros, Bruno Guimaraes moved to Arsenal for 87 million, and big-five spending is near 6.5 billion, led by England on roughly 2.3 billion. Registration runs until 1 September.
