Coach Massimiliano Canzi, Sofia Cantore, Lindsey Thomas and Sara Gama spoke to the press after Juventus Women First Team’s 4-0 win against Roma in the 2024/25 Women’s Coppa Italia final.
“Winning this Coppa Italia is a dream, the crowning achievement of a wonderful season, which surpassed all expectations. The girls have been wonderful and the club has provided us with great players: today's victory was the icing on the cake, we are overjoyed. It was a performance that reflected the extraordinary work done by everyone, on the pitch and by those who manage this group. I couldn't really ask for more in my first season as Juventus Women coach. Sara Gama was honoured from a sporting and human point of view in the best possible way, by ending with a victory: we won this trophy thanks to a dominant performance. We built a system of play that would bring out the best characteristics of these players: playing direct and being able to make the most of their qualities. I am a different person professionally and as a human after this experience, I told the girls before the kick-off: after a 40-year career, I didn't think it was possible.”
“It is the icing on the cake at the end of a beautiful season. It is the triumph of the group, of the strength of our dressing room that has really made the difference this year. [Sara] Gama is irreplaceable, we are happy to have paid homage to her with these two trophies and I think it was a sweeter farewell to football this way.”
“It has been a tough season, with several changes. We knew it was going to be a tough game today and we put everything we had into bringing home this trophy as well. For me personally it was a season with a lot of sacrifices, the goal that hadn't come for me so far this season came today in the final and it's beautiful.”
“I don't know what to say... Today was indescribable, I am overjoyed and even more proud of this team. To this group I leave the spirit and the will to win, to always push yourself to the maximum and give everything you always have, even when you don't feel like you can. That's what counts, the desire to always go the extra mile, constantly. I will miss all this so much, especially the teammates, the fact of sharing moments, maybe even more than football itself. Anyone who plays football knows that, those are the things I will miss straight away.”
