AJ Auxerre manager Christophe Pélissier finds himself under growing pressure after a run of six matches without a win, leaving the club bottom of Ligue 1 with just seven points from eleven games and the division’s worst attack (seven goals). The 59-year-old coach has a renowned record of achieving five top-flight survivals with Amiens, Lorient, and Auxerre, but is now facing poor form on the pitch and a certain amount of internal misunderstandings within his staff. According to L’Équipe, differences have emerged between Pélissier’s long-time assistants: Jean-Marie Stephanopoli and Olivier Lagarde as well as former AJA icons Jean-Alain Boumsong and Djibril Cissé, who joined the technical setup this summer.Sporting director David Wantier is said to be questioning the direction of the team, while any decision on Pélissier’s future – which could cost around €2.5 million in severance – ultimately rests with owner James Zhou, in close contact with president Baptiste Malherbe.Auxerre travel to Angers on Sunday in a clash which could be key in determining the manager’s fate.
