Gianluca Prestianni will miss Benfica’s 23rd-round meeting with AFS after his booking against Santa Clara triggered a suspension.

The 20-year-old received his fifth yellow card as he prepared to be substituted, with referee António Nobre judging him to be time-wasting while removing his shin pads.

The caution means an automatic one-match ban, leaving José Mourinho without his number 25 for the league fixture. The Special One has alternatives to hand, including Sidny Cabral and Dodi Lukebakio, who is seeking minutes after injury.

This season Prestianni has played 29 competitive matches for Benfica, 18 in Liga Portugal Betclic, six in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.

Across 1,380 minutes, he has recorded two goals and one assist. Mourinho must now reshuffle his wide options for AFS.
