US-Saudi businessman Amr Zedan is keen on purchasing Championship club Preston North End from the Hemmings family.
Preston have endured a frustrating 2026, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side winning just twice since January 4.
That ended any chance North End had of coming in the play-off places, and, instead, another mid-table finish looms for a frustrated fan base.
However, there is some reason for optimism this week, as it has been said that the club could be taken over by US-Saudi businessman Amr Zedan.
It’s no secret that the Hemmings family, who own Preston, have been open to a sale, and the club released a statement in January that confirmed they have held talks with several parties, including Zedan.
Yet, they were keen to stress it was very early days, and there was no guarantee that Zedan, or any other prospective buyer, would seal a deal for the Championship club.
But, there have been some major developments this week, and here we provide the latest on Zedan’s potential takeover of Preston…

The takeover talk involving Preston really intensified after Zedan was spotted watching Heckingbottom’s side draw 1-1 with QPR at Deepdale on Easter Monday.
Zedan has previously spoken of his desire to get into football, and he was linked with a move to buy Chelsea prior to holding talks with Preston.
So, it’s clear that he is open to investing, and the fact he was pictured at Deepdale meant there was always going to be talk that he is moving closer to purchasing North End.
Since then, there have been no official club updates, but reports suggest he is now ‘advancing’ with a deal for the Lancashire outfit.

Following on from that, reports state that the Hemmings family are ready to sell North End for around £12m to £15m, although they will ensure the club goes to a creditable buyer.
In the modern game, that is a very cheap price, especially when you take into account Preston are a stable Championship club, with decent facilities, and they own their stadium.
So, that shows the Hemmings family are looking after the best interests of the club, and nobody can accuse them of trying to price Preston out of a sale, as £15m will surely be seen as a real bargain by prospective buyers.
With the potential of the club, you would expect plenty of interest alongside Zedan, but, obviously, the hierarchy will need to work out who are genuine bidders as opposed to time wasters.

Whilst the price may not be an issue for Zedan, or any other serious buyer, they will clearly have work to do to convince the Hemmings family they are capable of taking the club forwards.
We have seen many examples of clubs getting into the wrong hands, and it can have disastrous consequences.
So, it should be commended that the Hemmings family are doing their own due diligence on any buyer. On that front, it has been claimed that Zedan is bringing a local businessman on board, and that is a sensible move.
Whilst the figure isn’t named, having a local person as part of the bid means he will get a clearer understanding of what the fans want, what the club means to the local community, and it can help build a connection.
