England will take on Ghana this evening, as both sides look to secure their spot in the Round of 32 following their opening game victories over Croatia and Panama.
Thomas Tuchel’s men put on a show against Croatia, winning 4-2 in what has been hailed by many as the best game of matchday one. Meanwhile, Ghana could only squeeze past Panama with a 1-0 win thanks to an injury-time winner from Caleb Yerinkyi.
This is just the Black Stars’ fifth appearance at the World Cup, having previously qualified in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2022, and, of course, 2026. Meanwhile, England have competed in 17 World Cups, including this year’s, having done so at every one since failing to qualify in 1994.
Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford were on the scoresheet for the Three Lions in their opener against Croatia. Rashford is now expected to start by many following his strong impact from the bench last time out.
Antoine Semenyo failed to have the desired impact on Ghana’s opening game, only registering two shots with neither of them finding the target. The Manchester City winger will almost certainly be keen to have a bigger effect on tonight’s clash.
A win for either side would secure their spot in the Round of 32 with a game to spare, which would be a welcome bonus for either team ahead of the final round of group games.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 9pm (UK time) and will be broadcast live on BBC One.
