Leeds United Women are back in FA Women’s National League Division One North action this Sunday, welcoming struggling York City Ladies to Garforth.
The Whites are coming off a strong performance Sunday, narrowly losing to tier-above West Bromwich Albion on penalties in the FA Women’s National League Cup, as Alice Hughes netted a powerful header from a Chloe Dixon corner to open the scoring before the hosts equalised.
Last time out in the league, United came from behind away to beat Durham Cestria 2-1 thanks to an equaliser from Drew Greene and a late winner from Hughes, securing Simon Wood’s side’s eighth win in nine games.
Sunday’s visitors, by contrast, are coming off a 5-1 defeat against Norton & Stockton Ancients, leaving them on four points from 11 games and 11th in the table.
In September, the Whites went to York City’s University Sports Centre and ran out 5-2 winners in the League Cup, thanks to Ellie White’s hattrick, Monique Watson’s header, and Kath Smith’s volley.
Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 2pm.
