Manchester City will host Arsenal tomorrow afternoon, as the reigning Women’s Super League champions look to extend their perfect start to the season at the Etihad Stadium.

Andree Jeglertz’s City side have had a perfect start to the season, with four wins from four, cementing their top spot in the WSL table, despite a winless start in the Champions League. Last time out in the league, City secured a 4-2 victory over Liverpool, with goals from Lauren Hemp and Bunny Shaw, plus an own goal by the Reds’ Grace Fisk, keeping their unbeaten streak alive.

However, it has been a less-than-ideal start to the season for Arsenal, who sit seventh in the table with just five points and two goals after one win in their first four WSL matches. The Gunners’ latest result was a 1-0 loss away at Chelsea, with a first-half goal courtesy of Alyssa Thompson, as she capitalised on a piece of sloppy defending to tuck away the only goal of the derby-day clash.

Last season, the Gunners posed the biggest threat to City’s title charge, finishing just five points behind Jeglertz’s side, but now, just four games into the 2026/27 season, there is a seven-point gap between the sides as Arsenal’s title hopes look to be falling away. However, last time the sides met, Arsenal were able to place a dent in City’s title hopes with a 1-0 victory, seeing the Sky Blues lose for the first time since the opening day of the 2025/26 season.

After signing for City in the Summer, Beth Mead will come up against her former club tomorrow afternoon following a seamless transition into life in the North West. Mead made over 250 appearances for The Gunners, netting 78 times, as well as holding the all-time assist tally during her nine years with the North London club.

Due to holding the highest average age in the WSL for the past two seasons, it was a busy summer of signings for Arsenal, with the club looking to renew and regenerate their squad, making signings including former Manchester City midfielder Georgia Stanway. The England international spent seven years at City before spending four years with Bayern Munich, then made the move back to the WSL this season with Arsenal, where she will face her former club for the first time.

The game is scheduled for a 4:30 pm kick-off BST at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow afternoon, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
