The Red Devils have returned to Malta 12 months on from their 10-0 victory over Birkirkara FC at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, home of Hibernians FC. Marc Skinner’s side will play at the same venue this year, although Manchester United have opted for stronger opposition in the form of a PSV side that are currently occupying fifth place in the Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen.
Manchester United have travelled to Malta with a 28-player group which includes injured trio Gabby George, Jess Simpson and Emma Watson. Nikita Parris is a notable absentee while Hinata Miyazawa is sidelined through injury. Head coach Skinner has welcomed Spanish international midfielder Irene Guerrero back into the squad while a handful of academy players have also travelled as part of the group.
PSV travel to Malta off the back of parting ways with Surinamese defender Naomi Piqué who has recently joined FC Utrecht. Emmeke Henschen is out through injury while Inessa Kaagman remains on maternity leave. Like opposite number Skinner, PSV head coach Roeland ten Berge has included plenty of youth in his squad selection.
Manchester United’s mid-season friendly against PSV is scheduled to kick-off at 5pm on Friday evening.
