Eintracht travel to FC Augsburg in the first of four remaining games in 2025/26. As sporting director Timmo Hardung put it: “We have to pick up points ourselves. Nobody is going to do it for us.”

“We can only focus on ourselves and mustn’t be distracted by other games,” Eintracht sporting director Timmo Hardung said. “We have to pick up points ourselves. Nobody is going to do it for us.”

With four games of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season left to play, there are still 12 points to play for in the race for a European place. The Eagles are hoping to pick up three of those on Saturday afternoon, when they face FC Augsburg – who currently sit one place and six points behind Eintracht in ninth position in the table – at the WWK Arena at 15:30 CEST.“We’ve put ourselves in a situation where we need to deliver in every game, but we’ll definitely bounce back” said Hugo Larsson, who got on the scoresheet on Matchday 30 but was unable to prevent his side losing 3-1 to Leipzig.

Augsburg picked up three important points themselves last time out, beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 away from home. “We’re obviously really pleased to have got the win and now have 36 points on the board,” head coach Manuel Baum reflected afterwards.

Looking back

The win in Leverkusen was Baum’s sixth victory since his appointment on 1 December last year. His team have also registered five draws and seven defeats in that time – including a 1-0 reverse at Deutsche Bank Park in mid-December, when Ritsu Doan scored the only goal of the game.

The Eagles boast an impressive recent record against their upcoming opponents, with Augsburg’s 2-1 home win on 3 December 2023 their only victory in the last 12 Bundesliga meetings between the sides. Eintracht last triumphed at the WWK Arena in November 2022, when Ansgar Knauff and Sebastian Rode scored in a 2-1 success. The teams’ most recent encounter in Augsburg ended in a goalless draw.

When asked about Eintracht’s remaining fixtures during the PwC Players Talk, goalkeeper Michael Zetterer was unequivocal in his response. “When you’re Eintracht Frankfurt, you go to Augsburg to win,” he said. “That’s the objective, and we want to add another three points at home to Hamburger SV [on Matchday 32]. We finish with two really tough games against Dortmund and Stuttgart. If the first half against Leipzig is anything to go by, we’ve got nothing to fear. We need to produce that for 90 minutes, though.”
