Oxford United and Ipswich Town face each other this Friday at the Kassam Stadium on Match Day 18 of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 20:00 on Sky Sports Football.
Oxford United have picked up 15 points and currently lie in 21st position. Last time out, Gary Rowett's team drew 1-1 against Norwich City (EFL Championship 2025/26).
Ipswich Town currently have 27 points and lie in 4th position. Last time out, Kieran McKenna's team triumphed 0-2 against Hull City (EFL Championship 2025/26).
The last meeting between the two teams ended with Oxford United winning 2-1.
Adam Wilkin (Blue Monday): An uninspiring first half away at Hull on Tuesday night caused a few concerns but the Town bench made the difference with Jaden Philogene delivering a peach of a cross for Marcelino Nunez to head home before Chuba Akpom tapped in from close range.
That squad strength should see Town gain places on their rivals in this busy period as they climb further up the table.
Oxford could be very similar to Wrexham from last weekend so it will be a different challenge of breaking down a low block. Shifting Akpom forward into the number 9 role is the key to that one in my opinion and if something close to the team below starts I think it should be a comfortable away win.
Prediction: 0-2
