Oxford United and QPR go head-to-head at Kassam Stadium this Wednesday in the EFL Championship.
Gary Rowett's U's are still looking over their shoulder in the table, despite a fantastic 1-0 win against Sheffield United in their last outing. Oxford currently occupy 18th position in the table on 45 points.
Visitors QPR, meanwhile, are perched just one point ahead of their opponents, Martí Cifuentes's team labouring to a 0-0 draw against Cardiff City in their previous league clash.
The Hoops emerged victorious in the return fixture between the two sides, the Londoners winning 2-0 on their own patch.
Playmaker Stats on Oxford: The U's have been very decent on home turf this season and, as their manager requested, they matched Sheffield United's physicality and mindset to record an impressive 1-0 win over the Blades at the weekend. The big question now is: can they build on that victory?
There are two ducks for Oxford still to break this season: a) they are one of two teams (+ Cardiff) yet to score a penalty in the second tier in 2024/25 and b) they are the only team in the division yet to win a game by three or more goals. With QPR really struggling at the moment, Rowett and his side will fancy their chances of victory...and maybe they can end one or both of those hoodoos in the process.
Ben Platt : QPR's poor form continued over the weekend with a 0-0 draw at home against struggling Cardiff. Comparing the quality of play to non-league football would be unfair to non-league teams and still wouldn't capture the complete lack of ability, composure, and intensity on display.
However, the point does move QPR closer to the typically required 50 points.
Injuries will continue to plague QPR on Wednesday as they face a buoyant Oxford side. The situation worsened with the only fit striker, Alfie Lloyd, going off injured over the weekend. Michael Frey, Steve Cook, Ilias Chair, Koki Saito, and Ryan Kolli are all likely to be out on Wednesday.
QPR have lost their last six away games, making this a tough challenge for the out-of-form R's. Results going against them could mean a daunting last 5 games.
