Phil Parkinson’s side have enjoyed a meteoritic rise in the English Football league since 2021.

They became the first side in history to achieve three consecutive promotions, rising from the National League through League Two and League One, before landing themselves in the Championship for the 2025/26 season.

Wrexham are now pursuing a record-breaking fourth successive promotion, sitting ninth in the Championship and just three points outside the play-off places.

They now face a significant challenge in the third round of the FA Cup, with Nottingham Forest arriving in struggling form.

The hosts will be without Andy Cannon (Ligament), Jay Rodriguez (Ankle), George Thomason (Thigh) and Danny Ward (Elbow) due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Forest travel to North Wales in poor form, having recorded just one win in their last five matches.

They come into the tie on the back of a 2-1 victory over West Ham and currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The pressure is mounting on Sean Dyche to deliver a positive result at the Stok Cae Ras.

This will be the second FA Cup meeting between the two sides, with Wrexham having claimed a memorable 3-1 victory at the City Ground in January, 1982.

Forest have reached the fourth round of the competition in each of the past two seasons and will be targeting another appearance at that stage.

Dyche will be without Ryan Yates (Thigh), Dan Ndoye (Knock), Chris Wood (Knee) due to injuries.

The game will kick off at 19:30 GMT on Friday, January 9th and will be televised on TNT Sports and Discovery+ in the UK.
