Lyon are due to resume pre-season on Monday 29 June in Décines with around 26 players. According to Le Progres, a promoted reserve and five returning loanees give the squad a younger look.

Six weeks after closing a breathless 2025-2026 in fourth place in Ligue 1, despite setbacks at Toulouse 1-2 then against Lens 0-4, they will be the first top-flight side back on the pitch.

Monday begins with medical and fitness checks before a gradual ramp-up. Paulo Fonseca and his staff will work towards a first XI for early August, even if six World Cup players remain on holiday.

The group will evolve during the transfer window and as those internationals return.

The first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round falls on four or five August, leaving a little over five weeks to prepare.
