Dave Challinor would be interested in the Sheffield Wednesday job if it becomes available, as he waits for his next job in football after leaving Stockport County in the summer.
The 51-year-old has developed a reputation as a very good coach after the work he has done in the past 15 years as a boss, which included a successful five-year period at Edgeley Park, where Stockport went from a League Two club to within one game of the Championship.

Prior to that, Challinor worked his way up the leagues, having started out at Colwyn Bay, and he did impressive work with AFC Fylde and Hartlepool United before joining Stockport.
Challinor and County decided to part ways by mutual consent after the 4-1 play-off final defeat to Bolton at Wembley.
Whilst it was a disappointing way for his time to end at the club for the former player, Challinor’s work will be appreciated - and it won’t have gone unnoticed by rival clubs.
Therefore, there had been some who expected Challinor to be in the mix for the Bradford City vacancy after Graham Alexander left for Preston.
Yet, the Bantams have moved to appoint Michael Duff, and journalist Alan Nixon has provided an update on Challinor’s future, as he revealed he is ‘waiting’ before making the next move in his career, as he claimed the Sheffield Wednesday job could be on his radar.
Even though the Owls have had a positive start to the season, losing just one of their opening seven games, there are doubts about the long-term future of boss Henrik Pedersen.
The Yorkshire outfit have been inconsistent in terms of performances, and, aside from the 7-2 thrashing of Bromley, they have struggled to score goals on a regular basis.
So, with Pedersen not having much credit in the bank following Wednesday’s inevitable relegation last season, some supporters feel a change may be on the cards.
And, if the job did become available, then Challinor would surely tick a lot of boxes for Wednesday.
As mentioned, he has been successful at several different jobs, and the outstanding work he did with Stockport means he has to be seen as a real coup for any League One side.
As well as that, he built a team that played fast, front-foot football, which is what Wednesday fans would expect given the quality they have in their squad for this level.

It does seem harsh to be discussing Pedersen’s future, as the team are fourth in League One, and if they win their game in hand, they would go top of the league!
That means he is doing very well in terms of results, and it can’t be understated how big an overhaul the club had in the summer following the takeover.
So, it was always going to take time, and patience is required, but Wednesday do have some quality players, and the expectation at Hillsborough means it will be about results and performances this season.
Ultimately, Pedersen will be aware of that, and he will know that if results do fall off in the coming weeks, then talk about Challinor, or other potential replacements, will only increase.
