The brass at French giants Paris Saint-Germain are ready to do their utmost to ease Xavi Simons away from a potential reunion with Barcelona this summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided the latest on the situation.

The name of attacker Simons has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona over the course of recent days.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming in the media that the Dutch international has been earmarked as a leading target on the part of Xavi and his Blaugrana coaching staff.

Simons, for his part, is keen to link back up with his former club, too, with a year-long loan deal therefore being sought out by the two parties.

If PSG have their way, however, then no such move will be forthcoming.

As per the aforementioned Sport, the priority at the Parc des Princes is to secure some form of financial return for their versatile young attacker.

A permanent transfer would be the ideal scenario, though a well-paid two-year loan is also not off the table.

Neither such option would be on the cards at Barcelona, with PSG therefore pushing Simons towards RB Leipzig, who, in the midst of a thoroughly productive temporary arrangement this season, are more than keen to bring the 21-year-old back to Germany.

Minutes would also be afforded to Simons with his parent club, but he is eager to be a leading protagonist, something which PSG boss Luis Enrique cannot guarantee at present.

With as much certain to be on offer at Leipzig, and the board at the Red Bull Arena giving real consideration to tabling a big-money bid to bring Simons in permanently, a Barcelona switch is beginning to look increasingly unlikely.
