There were two Women’s Champions League quarter-finals second leg taking place tonight, with four sides looking to book their spot in the semi-finals.

PSG coast past Häcken to set up all-French semi

PSG made light work of Häcken to progress to the Champions League semi-finals for the fourth time in five seasons.

Unsurprisingly, they controlled the first 15 minutes of the game, having all four of the shots and 65% possession as Häcken looked to weather the early storm.

The goal their dominance deserved just before the half-hour mark, and it was Tabitha Chawinga, who again was the scourge of the Swedish side.

The Malawian forward fired home a left-footed strike inside the box after excellent work from Marie-Antoinette Katoto.

The first half closed out with the Parisians in complete command and with more than one foot in the semi-finals.

It was not much different after the break with the one-way traffic continuing yet it remained 1-0 moving towards the final quarter.

The goals to seal the win eventually came in quick succession, Korbin Albert striking from distance before Katoto got the goal her play was worthy of.

PSG will now face off against eight-time winners Lyon in an all-French semi-final as they look to win their first ever Champions League.

Barcelona ease their way into semi-final clash with Chelsea

Barcelona progressed to their sixth consecutive Champions League semi-final after a 3-1 win against a determined Brann side handed them a 5-2 victory on aggregate over the Norwegians.

The defending champions dominated the early proceedings, having a near-monopoly of the ball in the opening quarter of an hour as they looked to build on their advantage from the first-leg.

Brann somehow held out, with keeper Aurora Mikalsen being their star performer with a series of strong saves.

They then had their first sight on goal just after the 20-minute mark but Signe Gaupset’s weak shot did not trouble Catalina Coll.

Barça broke Brann’s resistance just minutes later through Aitana Bonmati. The Ballon d’Or winner got the ball on the turn, took two touches and fired home brilliantly to give her side a deserved lead.

Despite their two-goal buffer on aggregate, they were not content to sit back and looked certain to add more goals before the end of the night.

By half-time, the hosts had had 14 shots to the visitor’s two, and it was a surprise it was just 1-0.

It was more of the same after the break and Barça doubled their lead in the 57th minute. Graham Hansen had her shot blocked but Fridolina Rolfo was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Brann didn’t let their heads drop and pulled a goal back with just under 20 minutes to go, substitute Tomine Svendheim finishing smartly from a tight angle.

Rolfo almost instantly cancelled out that strike, cracking the post with a fierce shot, and Patricia Guijarro eventually did in the 88th minute, tapping home from close range.

It will take some side to stop them from lifting European football’s premier prize again this season. Could it be Chelsea?
