The Ligue 1 title race will go to the final day as PSG closed the gap on leaders Lille to just one point after beating ten-man Reims 4-0 at the Parc des Princes.
Christophe Galtier’s Lille side missed the chance to strengthen their grip on the championship after drawing 0-0 at home to St.Étienne.
Scorers: Neymar PEN 13′, Mbappé 24′, Marquinhos 68′, Kean 89′.
The evening could’ve ended with Lille officially being crowned champions but there were no nerves on show for PSG as Mauricio Pochettino’s side looked to get the job done with no fuss.
They were given a huge helping hand (literally) 13 minutes in when Reims captain Yunis Abdelhamid was sent off for handling on the line.
Neymar dispatched the resulting penalty with ease before Kylian Mbappé doubled the hosts’ lead with his 40th goal of the season poking in after Thomas Foket tried to play the ball across his own goal.
Marquinhos sealed the three points 22 minutes from time when he rose highest to head home Neymar’s corner, before Moise Kean came off the bench to add some gloss to the scoreline with a well-taken low finish.
PSG have now moved on to 79 points with Lille on 80 as we head to the final matchday of the season.
Pochettino will be hoping for his team to beat Brest on the final day needs Galtier’s side to drop points in their game with Angers to claim his first trophy as a manager.
Niko Kovać’s Monaco side can still have a say in the destiny of the title but would require both PSG and Lille to lose.
