West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville is attracting summer transfer interest, and his future likely lies away from the London Stadium.
According to Santi Aouna, Paris Saint-Germain have contacted West Ham about signing him and also approached his entourage to understand the terms of a transfer.
The Parisians are preparing for an attacking reshuffle, with Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola likely leaving. It appears they want the West Ham man to replace them.
Summerville was one of the bright spots for West Ham this season, bagging seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances.
However, with the Hammers dropping down to the second division, the 24-year-old is poised to leave Rush Green in search of a new stomping ground after the World Cup.
The French giants are also after Mateus Fernandes, but recognise the difficulty in securing his signature with Real Madrid and a host of Premier League clubs chasing him.
It remains unclear where either man will end up at this point, but if the Hammers can get big sums for these two, they may not need to sell other key players.
The bigger concern is what happens after the money arrives.
The Irons have generated substantial transfer income in recent years, yet too many expensive signings have failed to deliver the required impact.
With the sporting structure currently looking fragmented and uncertain, there is little room for error.
Relegation has increased the pressure on decision-makers to identify the right targets, build a balanced squad and establish a clear footballing vision.
West Ham might have a relatively sizeable transfer war chest, but a large budget guarantees nothing without a coherent recruitment strategy.
Smart recruitment, strong leadership and long-term planning matter. West Ham cannot afford another scattergun approach in the market.
If they genuinely want to return to the Premier League at the first attempt, every major decision over the coming months must be right.
The money will likely be there. The challenge is proving they can spend it wisely.
