Paris Saint-Germain duo Vitinha and Goncalo Ramos let their football do the talking against Barcelona, as they secured a 2-1 win at Montjuic on Wednesday night. The Portuguese duo were asked about the statements of Lamine Yamal and Pedri ahead of the clash though.

The 18-year-old Barcelona superstar posted on his Instagram that ‘I’m back and the mission is also back’, as he posted a hype video in the lead up to their tie PSG. Meanwhile Pedri in his pre-match press conference sent a challenge to the Champions League holders, saying that ‘PSG are a great team, but we’re better’.

Asked about those statements after the game, Vitinha told press in the mix zone that PSG could not care less about what was said beforehand. His words were provided by MD.

“This happens sometimes. We know there are these kinds of statements before matches, it can happen. We can’t do anything about it, we don’t give a damn. We wanted to play the match, we won, and we’re happy about that.”

‘If you’re the best, you have to prove it’ – Ramos

Ramos came off the bench and was on hand to dispatch the winner in the final minute of normal time for PSG. He said that they were focused on proving they were the best on the pitch.

“We’re the European champions, I can’t say any more. If you’re the best, you have to prove it on the field, not just talk about it.”

Humbling defeat for Barcelona

While the scoreline was tight, and Barcelona had chances to take the lead for a second time, manager Hansi Flick seemed to think the gap between the two sides was notable. He will no doubt be using the game as evidence to make it clear to his side that they must continue working and keep improving.
