PSG have six days before the end of the summer transfer window to find an exit route for Gianluigi Donnarumma (26), but the Italy international goalkeeper could remain with Luis Enrique’s squad this season, according to a report from L’Equipe. Donnarumma has been pushed towards the door this summer as PSG head coach Luis Enrique signalled the end of the Italian’s spell at Parc des Princes with the signing of France international Lucas Chevalier from Lille OSC.
Donnarumma penned a statement to announce his upcoming PSG exit, and he was allowed to bid his farewell to the fans following Les Parisiens’ slender 1-0 win against Angers. PSG and Donnarumma both want to part ways as soon as possible, but the Champions League winners would like a hefty profit on a player they signed as a free agent in 2021.
L’Equipe adds that Manchester City have monitored Donnarumma for several months now. An agreement on personal terms was also reached a couple of weeks ago between the Skyblues and the AC Milan youth graduate. PSG previously set a €50m price tag on Donnarumma, but Les Parisiens are now adamant their valuation won’t be met. On their part, City want to take advantage of Donnarumma’s contractual situation to land him on a cheap deal. The Premier League side would be even ready to wait until the winter transfer window to sign the Italian, whose valuation would have significantly decreased by then.
The outlet understands that PSG have had informal talks with transfer brokers in recent days, suggesting that another club could take advantage of City’s low-ball stance – and their struggle to sell Ederson to Galatasaray – and make a move for Donnarumma.
