According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are considering bidding for PSV Eindhoven’s midfielder Jerdy Schouten (27), but are waiting to offload Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte (23) before opening talks with the Dutch outfit.

While Xavi Simons (21) is set to return to Leipzig and Ugarte is targeted by Manchester United, PSG could be on the market to strengthen their midfield. Joao Neves’ (19) arrival from Benfica could be sealed this week, but the Capital club could still be on the market for another midfielder. After a solid Euro campaign with the Netherlands, Schouten is on PSG’s radar. The PSV midfielder only joined the Netherlands’ champions last summer on a €12M deal from Bologna and has been one of the club’s standout players last season, taking part in 40 games across all competitions.

L’Equipe reveals that PSG could be keen to recruit two midfielders this summer, one of them being Joao Neves. While the capital club still hasn’t found a total agreement with Benfica for the Portuguese international, there’s a growing confidence that the deal could be sealed in the next few days. PSG will only take a decision on whether to sign another midfielder when Neves’ deal is sealed. The French outlet adds that Luis Campos has highlighted that PSG will need to sell to free another spot in midfield. If Ugarte were to depart for Manchester United, the club’s sporting director has added Schouten’s name to the club’s shortlist.
