PSG fear for Hakimi! Second leg against Bayern on the brink

Paris Saint-Germain have to worry about a key player ahead of the decisive second leg against FC Bayern. Achraf Hakimi’s involvement is currently in doubt – and could become a real problem for the French side

As reported by RMC Sport, the Moroccan international was not only struggling with cramps in the spectacular 5-4 first-leg win. Hakimi is to undergo further medical examinations to clarify the exact cause and extent of the discomfort. A final diagnosis is still pending, meaning his fitness for the second leg in Munich is also unclear

The right-back’s absence would be a major setback for PSG. Hakimi is one of the most important players in Luis Enrique’s system, particularly due to his dynamism, his attacking runs and his role in the transition game. His speed could be a decisive factor, especially against Bayern’s high-powered defence

Mendes gives the all-clear

The situation is much more relaxed for Nuno Mendes, however. The Portuguese left-back also had to be substituted in the first leg but will be available in time for the second leg, according to the report

This means that Luis Enrique can at least breathe a sigh of relief in a key defensive position. Mendes already had his hands full in the duel with Michael Olise in the first leg and will also play a central role in Munich

After the game, PSG coach Luis Enrique was initially cautiously optimistic. „I think it’s cramp,“ explained the Spaniard, referring to the extreme intensity of the game. At the same time, however, he made it clear that a precise assessment would only be possible after further examinations

The pressure in the semi-final first leg was exceptionally high – nine goals, a constant transition game and hardly any rest periods. It is therefore hardly surprising that players are pushed to their physical limits in games like this

Nevertheless, Hakimi’s condition could play a decisive role in the second leg at the Allianz Arena. PSG go into the second encounter with a narrow lead, but Bayern’s attacking power already showed in the first leg that they can score several goals at any time

Players like Hakimi are hard to replace, especially in a game that is once again likely to be characterized by speed and intensity. Should the 27-year-old miss out or not be at 100 per cent, it would have a noticeable impact on the balance of PSG’s game.
