PSG fined €2.7m for gender equality index breach | OneFootball

Le Progres reports that the Paris administrative court has upheld a €2.7m penalty against Paris Saint-Germain for failing to meet France's workplace gender equality index before 2024. The ruling, dated 25 June, confirms sanctions imposed on the club.

The Île-de-France labour inspectorate set the penalty in March 2024 at 0.5% of 2022 revenue, totalling €2,728,468.

Inspection data showed PSG posted insufficient scores on the index for three consecutive years before 2024, notably on the indicator covering the 10 highest earners at the club.

The club argued on appeal that men's professional football has structural features that place player salaries at the top of the pay scale, limiting room for action regardless of HR policies. It said it has been compliant since 2023 after undertaking substantive work on these issues.

PSG said it has taken note of the judgment and is continuing measures to strengthen professional equality.

Nationally, the gender equality index in French companies was stable in 2026 compared with 2025, with significant progress still needed on women in senior leadership. Firms with more than 50 employees must publish their score by 1 March each year.
