PSG are projecting calm and self-belief before Wednesday’s Champions League last 16 first leg against Chelsea, kick-off 21:00, despite a more difficult spell.

According to L'Équipe, the usual eve-of-match scene at Campus PSG may not unfold on Tuesday. Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Luis Campos normally watch the final session from pitchside, yet the president could miss it as he remains in Qatar, which has been targeted by Iranian attacks on Doha, its capital.

Al-Khelaïfi will still try to reach Paris to attend the Chelsea tie, with a final decision due on Monday evening. He is not worried about the club and, for more than two years, has delegated the day-to-day running to Campos and, above all, Luis Enrique.

The coach has been a calming presence across the technical departments and has reiterated to players his trust in each of them. He also feels optimistic before what he calls the key moments of the season.

Former PSG goalkeeper Alexandre Letellier said Enrique is demanding yet consistently positive, noting that the day after the defeat at Newcastle he kept the tone upbeat. He examined the loss through statistics and video, then closed on positives to aid the response. That approach, he added, stops the team from sinking after setbacks.

Sunday was a rest day for the Spaniard and the squad, and the mood inside the club is calm. Staff echo last season at a similar stage, just before facing Liverpool, with a simple message, stay united, fight for one another and do not let up.
