According to a report from L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks to sign Bournemouth centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi (22).

Zabarnyi has become Bournemouth’s first-choice option at the back and has impressed since joining the Premier League club from Dynamo Kyiv back in the summer of 2023. His performances have caught the eye of PSG, who could be set to make a move in January. Aware that Marquinhos may leave the club in the near future amid interest from Saudi Arabia, they are planning ahead. An extra space would also be created by Milan Skriniar’s touted departure.

PSG are big admirers of the Ukraine international and have even opened talks to sign him. However, the presence of Russia international Matvei Safonov could throw a spanner in the works, due to the nation’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. L’Équipe, however, adds that the stances of the two players in question are not known. Zabarnyi’s contract with Bournemouth runs until 2029.
