Paris Saint-Germain said in a statement that it is ready to reopen talks with Paris City Hall over a purchase of the Parc des Princes, a day after the Council of Paris mandated new Socialist mayor Emmanuel Grégoire to resume dialogue.
On Tuesday night the Parisians reached the Champions League semi-finals for the third successive season, beating Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield to match the first-leg score, with Ousmane Dembélé scoring twice.
The club has taken note of the council’s stance in favour of reviving talks on renewed terms, and is keeping alternative stadium options in Massy and in Poissy should it leave the capital’s ground.
It says any discussions must rest on detailed studies to resolve all outstanding questions. It also views the potential integration of the Parc within a wider Porte de Saint-Cloud redevelopment programme, without a shopping centre as pledged by the mayor, as a new avenue to explore.
This is the club’s first public comment since Grégoire’s election on 22 March. He has already twice been invited to the Parc des Princes to watch PSG alongside Nasser al-Khelaïfi.
