With Milan Skriniar set to join Fenerbahçe SK, Paris Saint-Germain may soon be in the market for a new center-back when the summer transfer window opens. As Skriniar’s departure becomes imminent, PSG will need to find a replacement.

ESPN previously reported that PSG are eyeing Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté for a summer move, with sources suggesting that the French defender is open to returning to his hometown.

Konaté, under contract with Liverpool until 2026, remains a top target for PSG despite the club’s interest. He joined Liverpool in July 2021 for £36 million ($45.3 million) from RB Leipzig.

Journalist Romain Collet Gaudin confirmed the report, adding that Konaté and AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche are PSG’s top two summer targets.

Anfield Watch reports that PSG are pushing to sign Konaté this summer, with Liverpool likely to have little choice but to consider offers.

In a year, Konaté will be able to agree to a pre-contract with teams outside England, making the summer Liverpool’s last chance to secure a significant transfer fee for him.

That’s the opportunity PSG are hoping to capitalize on. Liverpool face pressure to sell unless they can agree to terms with Konaté before then.

The report also mentioned that Paul Joyce of The Times has claimed Real Madrid have joined PSG in the race to sign the defensive powerhouse.

Konaté’s contract runs out in 2026, and Liverpool has yet to reach an agreement on a new one.
