Having been rumoured to be on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain for several weeks, Aleksey Batrakov (20) is now unlikely to sign for the reigning double European champions, according to reports in Le Parisien.

A key player in Mikhail Galaktionov’s system, the Russian has been decisive on 24 occasions (12 goals and 12 assists) in the 36 matches across all competitions, including 33 starts, that he has played for the Moscow club this season.

Although he had been scouted by Luis Campos on several occasions, the Lokomotiv Moscow attacking midfielder ultimately failed to convince the PSG sporting director to press ahead with the deal, with the latter opting for other options in an attempt to strengthen Luis Enrique’s squad.

This is a major blow for Batrakov’s agent, who, just a few weeks ago, had expressed confidence in the deal, estimating his client’s chances of moving to France this summer at “95%”.
