Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their efforts to secure the signing of Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández, as the French champions look to move quickly and beat growing competition.
According to a recent update from SPORT, PSG are determined to close the deal as soon as possible, aware that interest from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund remains very much alive.
It is said that the Ligue 1 club do not want to risk losing control of the situation and have already taken decisive steps behind the scenes.
In fact, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has personally contacted Joan Laporta to open direct talks, to negotiate a transfer without triggering the player’s release clause.
Dro’s future at Barcelona has been hanging in the balance for weeks, but the situation accelerated once the midfielder made his intentions clear.
The player directly informed Hansi Flick of his decision to leave during the January transfer window.

Despite having multiple offers on the table, Dro prioritised PSG’s proposal, convinced that the project under Luis Enrique offers the best platform for his development.
With that decision made, PSG felt the time was right to formalise their interest and attempt to resolve the situation in an orderly manner, ideally through an agreement that suits all parties.
Barcelona, for their part, have already made their position clear to the player’s entourage. There are two possible paths for his departure.
One option would see Dro leave unilaterally by paying his €6 million release clause, a scenario that would likely damage relations and result in an abrupt exit.
The second, and preferred route for the Blaugrana, is a negotiated transfer worth around €10 million, allowing the club to secure a higher fee while maintaining goodwill.
PSG have accepted that challenge and are now working to reach an agreement that avoids confrontation.
The expectation is that negotiations could advance rapidly, with the Parisian club hoping to finalise contracts within the next week.
