PSG have concentrated on signing top French talent in recent transfer windows, adding players such as Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier.
The club now appears intent on strengthening its defense with another French prospect. While Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has been linked with a move, PSG may have another high-profile target in mind.
Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano is set to become a free agent after the 2025–26 season, and PSG are reportedly keeping a close watch on him. Christian Falk of Sport Bild recently confirmed the club is monitoring Upamecano’s situation.
The Bayern defender could be a potential signing if available next summer, though attracting him may be difficult given interest from several other clubs.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany reports that after Vincent Kompany’s contract extension at Bayern Munich, Max Eberl is considering negotiating a new deal for Upamecano.
Discussions are underway, though no agreement has been reached regarding the signing-on bonus or whether a release clause will be included. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are standing firm against adding a minimum fee release clause to Upamecano’s potential contract.
Recently, Fichajes reported that with his contract nearing its end, the French center-back is seeking a salary of €16 million per season from any club looking to sign him.
Moreover, the report mentions that Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation. As a result, a move for the Frenchman could significantly impact their defensive plans for the summer of 2026 in a positive way.
The report also mentions that Bayern Munich admits its negotiating position is far from ideal. Upamecano is entering the final months of his contract and has yet to show an apparent willingness to extend.
