With the imminent arrival of Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich, Spanish defender Juan Bernat is poised to fall further down the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain, having already surrendered his starting spot to Nuno Mendes.

Despite enjoying his best season in terms of playing time this past year – 36 appearances in all competitions – the former Valencia man has been unabe to recover from the cruciate ligament injury he suffered in 2020, which kept him sidelined for over a year.

With two years still left on his contract, the Ligue 1 champions have opened the door to a departure, and clubs from Turkey as well as his home country are interested, according to L’Équipe this morning. Bernat himself is said to be open to the idea of leaving the French capital, while his high wages mean that a departure would contribute to assuaging the club’s FFP concerns, having been sanctioned by UEFA last year.
